The organic forms in this work by Anna Frydman, created with oil pastel chalk, are as simple as can be. And yet the image is not one-size-fits-all. You could see in it, for instance, that someone is trying to hold way too much stuff and everything only nearly fits. The bottom objects almost fall to the ground. It’s as if the person went into the supermarket for a small errand and didn’t bother to use a shopping basket, but still goes towards the checkout with more items than previously planned. But if you look twice, you could also discover a butterfly in it. The purple figure is then the wing and the black bulges are the insect's antennae. Then you might wonder where the right wing has gone. Perhaps it accidentally slipped out of its arms and was left behind somewhere.
