The tree's long trunk, with a flat top, casts a shadow on the background. No detailed twigs and leaves writhing in all directions, because you can't get that much detail in a sophisticated way in the hardboard Klement gushes from. Nor does he need those details to get a stately tree on paper. The thick lines and large areas look a bit like palm leaves hanging high in the tree. With a little imagination, you can imagine coconuts and a beach with a rippling sea. In many shades of grey, though.
