Who is hidden behind the vase of colourful flowers? We have to make do with an eyebrow and a small part of the mouth, because that is all we get to see. But perhaps much more interesting is the content of the vase, which the person is clasping with firm hands and short-cut nails. The jumper is so lightly drawn that the flowers drown out the colours in the background. The emphasis is on the vase and bouquet. The softness of the pastels on the paper make it a peaceful image to look at and makes you wonder. Was this a gift to the person putting the vase on the table?
